Course Content

Sustainable Public Economics explores the intersection of economics, public policy, and sustainability. This course aims to provide students with a broad understanding of how economic principles and policies can promote sustainable development and address environmental and societal challenges. Topics covered include environmental economics, public goods, taxation, regulation, and policy analysis, with a focus on sustainability.

Intended Learning Outcomes and Competencies

This course will provide you with an adequate framework to understand the role of governments within the economy and their need to address certain issues within a market economy. The course objectives include:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of public economics and their applications to sustainability.
  • Analyze the role of government in promoting sustainable development.
  • Evaluate various economic policies and their impact on the environment and society.
  • Develop critical thinking and analytical skills to assess sustainability issues from an economic perspective.
  • Propose sustainable solutions to public economic challenges.
